10.12.1. Tightness diagnostics

Repair of tightness of a body demands appropriate test and diagnostics. Restore tightness, regulating an arrangement of parts and using appropriate materials for repair.

Define the leaking reason. For example, can flow to occur, when the car is parked on a slope, or water can appear only in a compartment of the spare tyre. Check up area on a leak source, using following test methods. If the basic place of a leak is found, define precisely a leaking place, using a water stream or compressed air. If the basic place of a leaking is not established, use water stands. For this purpose it can be demanded to remove some internal panels of a covering or some parts which are settling down near to a leaking.

The note It is necessary to find all places of a leak before carrying out of any repair. Selective repair will stop a leak only temporarily and to make the following repair it will be more difficult. Continue local test in the basic place to guarantee that all places of a leak are found.
